Minute Maid Park
Brewers vs Astros 6/12/19
Apparently it was a marque matchup on ESPN that evening? Sure! It was an amazing pitching duel with Woodruff and Verlander going head to head. Astros only scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Brewers hit 3 solo homers to make the game go into extra innings. I left in the 8th inning so that I could leave and get som decent sleep before another long drive the next day. Verlander struck out a career high 15 batters. He almost got his 15th when Thames hit the 3rd homer to tie the game...then Verlander got the next guy to strike out for his 15th. It was unbelievable to watch, and give the Brewers pitching credit to shut down the Astros hitters too. Apparently the game went all the way to the 14th inning before the Brewers scored 3 runs to win it in the end.
Final 6-3 Brewers over the Astros in 14 innings.
The Astros community affairs dept hooked me and my friend up with a free tour that morning. Oh it was so cool to learn about the ballpark and walk around it on all different levels. I also made it on the jumbo-tron again with my section just an inning before I was to leave! So fun! Yelich for the Brewers threw a ball to me, it went over my glove, bounced back to my feet, and the guy next to me was able to pick it up. Frustrated, but I’ll be OK. Ugh. Haha. Getting to see my friend I hadn’t seen in 7 years was also a treat. The shake shack double cheese burger and shake made my night even better. Oh man was it delicious, and hit just the right hungry spot I had. The stadium though was so far my 2nd favorite after Busch in St. Louis.
