Travel day part 2 from Houston to SF. 6/14/19
This drive had a little bit less distance, yet through more unknown territory for me. I drove all the way and ate just before crossing the AZ and CA border. Eastern Cali is definitely nothing to be excited about to be sure, but funny I crossed the Colorado River again at this point. Approaching East LA from Palm Springs, CA was quite the adventure with some of the most wind I’ve ever encountered on this trip. I’ve never driven in California, so all of this was a 1st for me. I did come across a few heavily trafficked areas while trying to take the 210 over to I-5 where I’d go to SF. The Tejon Pass north of LA was a surprise and brought joy of being back in the mountains. The bread basket valley that you enter into after Tejon Pass is quite majestic. The ascent and descent of Pacheco Pass to take as a more direct route to SF was quite a roller coaster experience. It was all at night and super dark and really windy again. I did finally make it to my destination in SF after about 15 hours of driving and break, and I felt like my whole body was stiff jello.
