The motto of this trip is definitely “I’ll get there when I get there”. This was driven on 6/3/19.
I had to unfortunately gain 2 hours to my clock sine AZ doesn’t acknowledge daylight savings time, and are basically in Pacific Time and Dallas is in Central.
I drove just about 1100 miles this day, and it took me about 15 hours of driving with total of 18 hours of time lapse.
I had a car issue that made me stop even longer in Van Horn, TX. Apparently my thermostat/temp gauge that regulates coolant flow in the radiator and engine wasn’t working properly causing my engine to run hot for about 80 miles.
Imagine driving 80 miles in West TX in June with the intake air flow on...so sweaty. Thankfully it was overcast. The tiny town of Van Horn has a Napa auto parts that just happened to have the thermostat to fix my old ‘99 Forester. It’s been working perfect ever since it was fixed.
The scenery out in West TX and lower NM and AZ is classic desert scenery with being able to see for hundreds of miles. Really sweet rock formations and mountain rocky landscape too.
I didn’t pull into the place I stayed in Arlington until about 1:45 AM local time. Yay. I made it in one piece. Grateful for a place to stay with AC.
